Champions league historia (ENG)

Champions League UEFA (also called the Champions League or European Cup) is the European tournament in the world football at club level organized by UEFA (Union of European National Associations).HistoryIn 1954 the English club Wolverhampton did a tour in Europe playing with the most prestigious and biggest clubs on the continent.Achieved very good results, beating Honved Giants Hungarians, with Puskas and Kocsis Hidegkuti. The British press celebrated the success by posting that they were "the best team in the world" or "the best in Europe." The covers of these newspapers infuriated French journalist Gabriel Hanot, who stated that there were at least three top European clubs that English: Real Madrid, Saint Etienne and AC Milan.Hanot, together with colleague Jacques Ferran, also proposed by a column in "L'Equipe" a European championship for clubs. In April 1955, UEFA gave its approval for competition. It was first held in 1955, and was known as the European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1991. UEFA Champions League renamed in 1992, so for statistical purposes are considered the same competition. The tournament is held annually since 1955 and the first champion was Real Madrid of Spain, being the most titled club, 9 in total: 6 in the old format and 3 in the new. You also have the finals record with 12.ClassificationWinning teams are ranked in the league competition in each country and in the strongest European leagues (defined by the UEFA coefficient), are also classified runners or even directly from the 2009-10 season third of the three strongest leagues .You can reserve some places for teams that fail to enter directly. These teams play a qualifying round to determine which will finally be able to contest the Champions League.Since the 2006-07 season the team winning the Champions League is not guaranteed a place in next year's championship, it depends on the discretion of the federation of their country to choose their representatives. This is because of this incident to the Premier League the previous season. Liverpool FC, champions in the 2004-05 edition, failed to rank among the top four of their league, which did not agree to a place in the previous phase. UEFA asked the Premier League that Liverpool FC were the fourth team in England, a request that was denied, since they are local leagues that choose their representatives, with reference to the classification in the league, not being turned into an obligation .Finally, UEFA had to change the rules for the Liverpool FC could play the competition, so it did not represent the England and Chelsea could be measured in the first round (teams from the same country can not face up to the quarter end). After the experience, UEFA chose not to repeat the same thing. It recalls the ancient code of honor in each league to send the champion to defend his title in 2000 when Real Madrid, European champions, was placed fifth in the standings and sent in place of Real Zaragoza, who had remained in fourth place.
